Do we have to build our inventory from scratch?
No. MAT starts with the Montessori catalogue — a curated model of each classroom type's expected materials, organised by curriculum area and sub-area. You confirm what you have against that model. You never build a list from nothing.
What classroom types are supported?
Nido, Toddler, Primary, Lower Elementary, Upper Elementary, and Elementary. The catalogue covers each type with its own curriculum areas, sub-areas, and reference materials.
What if our classrooms differ from the catalogue?
Intentional deviations are expected and fully supported. You can confirm that a classroom deliberately omits certain materials, or includes materials outside the standard model. The catalogue is a reference, not a prescription.
Who owns our data?
You do. The records in MAT belong entirely to your school. You can export everything at any time, in full, without prior notice. If you ever stop using MAT, you leave with your complete institutional record.
What happens to our records if a teacher leaves?
Nothing, except that they can no longer access them. The records stay exactly where they are — attached to the classroom, not the person. The next Guide inherits a complete picture of the environment they're taking on.
Do we need to be technical to use MAT?
No. If you can use a tablet and a Montessori observation notebook, you can use MAT. The interface is designed for people who think about prepared environments. Guides have found it intuitive from the first session.
How does onboarding work?
We do it together. The initial call sets up your school and walks you through the first classroom. Most schools complete their initial catalogue confirmation in two to four weeks, working in short sessions alongside the normal programme.
Can our accountant and insurance broker see what they need?
Yes. MAT has specific roles for Accountant (financial reports, depreciation, replacement values) and Insurance Broker (asset valuations by classroom and category). They see exactly what their work requires — and nothing else.
Is MAT only for new schools?
No. Schools with established programmes and decades of materials find MAT equally valuable — often more so, because the problem of institutional memory is more acute when the knowledge base is larger and the staff has changed many times.
What is a stock take?
A structured, periodic walk through each classroom in which each material is confirmed as present, noted as missing, or flagged for follow-up. MAT guides you through it, item by item. At the end, a signed evidence record is generated.
